Submission overview: Power Singh Inc. assisted Media Monitoring Africa in preparing a submission to the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) on the proposed Regulations Regarding Represented Political Party Funding in terms of section 24(2) of the Political Party Funding Act, 2018 (proposed Regulations). In addition to submissions regarding the specific provisions of the proposed Regulations, the submission also highlighted the need for a rights-based approach and the importance of proactive disclosures in respect of political party funding. On 4 April 2019, the IEC announced that it would be postponing the implementation of the Political Party Funding Act to allow further time for consultation on the proposed Regulations.
